Preschool Information

​WCPS provides part-time preschool services for children ages 4 months to 5 years. We serve children daily from 9:30-2:30. Children attend 2, 3, 4 or 5 days per week. 

We also offer Breakfast Club

 from 7:30 am - 9:30 am

 and an Extended Day program

 that runs from 2:30-5:00 pm.

The Preschool Office opens at 8:30. Preschool classroom hours are 9:30-2:30. On Monday through Friday, children may enter the school building beginning at 9:20. If you arrive before 9:20, please wait outside the door so your child’s teacher can have adequate time to prepare for the day.

Auxiliary Board members meet on the 2nd Wednesday of every month from September through May  (with the exception of October). Board members organize and operate the fundraising efforts for the preschool, and sponsor several special school events during the year, as well as attend workdays and events chaired by other board members. Board members can serve as many terms as they wish. If you are interested and need further information about becoming an Auxiliary Board member, please contact us.

Woodmont Christian Preschool (WCPS) operates as an outreach of Woodmont Christian Church (WCC).  WCPS seeks to reach and minister to the children and families in the community by offering a high quality weekday preschool program.  WCC strives to strengthen the lives of the preschool families by providing opportunities for involvement through the family, children and women’s ministries.

The Preschool Director, who is a member of the church’s administrative staff, supervises Woodmont Christian Preschool’s daily operations.  The preschool is governed by the Woodmont Christian Preschool Advisory Board, whose chair is a member of Woodmont Christian Church.

Parents are an important part of our program. We believe that a child’s growth is fostered through a cooperative effort by the teacher and the parent. The school promotes this relationship through open communication including daily notes, weekly newsletters, all-school correspondence and conferences. We welcome parental support, ideas and suggestions.

Parents are a valued component of our program.  There are numerous ways for you to be involved with WCPS and your child’s educational experiences.  Please talk with your child’s teacher, committee members and/or the director to discuss ways you can become a vital addition to the program. 

Knowing that WCPS parents feel that there is nothing more important than their child’s education, we encourage our parents to be involved with the preschool. Parents are asked to contribute items for holiday parties and to help with school events. Parents of children in the 4 and 5-year-old programs are asked to give of their time for special events and driving on field trips.

Families are encouraged to attend school events such as Fall Fest in the fall and the Auction in the spring. These events promote camaraderie among school families and provide children with special memories of school. (The alumni/ae can’t wait to come back with their younger siblings to these events each year!)  Additionally, the money raised through these events is the major means for enhancing and upgrading the WCPS facilities.

ROOM PARENT: One to two volunteers are needed per classroom. Responsibilities include helping teachers plan holiday parties, decorating a game booth at Fall Fest and procurring any necessary supplies, working with the auction chairs on class projects, helping with field trips (in the older classes), and collecting money and purchasing year-end teacher gifts.

SECRET PALS: As a Secret Pal, volunteers give their assigned teacher of staff member a small token (candy, flowers or other small goodies) once a month to thank them for their hard work and the care of your child.

GENERAL HELP WITH EVENTS: It is a big job to put on each of the fundraising events throughout the year...they would not be possible without help from our parents! Please see the list of jobs needed for each event listed.
