COVID
Your Child should not be at school or in contact with other children when:
Fever, cough, headache, body ache, runny nose
If your child feels well enough, he/she may attend school if:
Quarantined for 5 days from date of positive test. May return on Day 6 with negative test or return on Day 11.
Must be fever free WITHOUT fever reducing medication for over 24 hours.
Runny nose
Your Child should not be at school or in contact with other children when:
Cloudy or yellow/green discharge with congestion
If your child feels well enough, he/she may attend school if:
Clear drainage as with allergies
Cough
Your Child should not be at school or in contact with other children when:
Frequent or uncontrollable,
producing mucus
If your child feels well enough, he/she may attend school if:
Infrequent, no mucus is being coughed up
Vomiting or Diarrhea
Your Child should not be at school or in contact with other children when:
If first occurrence is in the morning before school
Or
If more than one occurrence; allow 24 hours after last incident of vomiting or diarrhea before sending child back to school
If your child feels well enough, he/she may attend school if:
Single incident of diarrhea or vomiting and no other symptoms (i.e., no fever, no vomiting with diarrhea) unless FIRST Incident is in the morning before school.
Strep Throat
Your Child should not be at school or in contact with other children when:
Sore throat, headache, nausea, fever (children do not always have fever or complain of a sore throat.)
The only way to rule out Strep is with a throat culture.
If your child feels well enough, he/she may attend school if:
After 24 hours on antibiotics and fever free WITHOUT fever reducing medication for 24 hours
“Pink eye”
(Conjunctivitis)
Your Child should not be at school or in contact with other children when:
Eye is red, burning or itching, crusty, white or yellow drainage is occurring
If your child feels well enough, he/she may attend school if:
Bacterial conjunctivitis: after 24 hours on antibiotics and no drainage.
Viral conjunctivitis: with a note from the Physician - stating no longer contagious
Rash
Your Child should not be at school or in contact with other children when:
Any child with an unknown rash will be dismissed for medical evaluation
If your child feels well enough, he/she may attend school if:
Rash free or with a note from the Physician - stating no longer contagious
Chicken Pox & Hand-Foot-Mouth
Your Child should not be at school or in contact with other children when:
Itching pink/red spots with blister-type center, sometimes fever
If your child feels well enough, he/she may attend school if:
Lesions crusted over and dry, no fever
Head lice
Your Child should not be at school or in contact with other children when:
Nits or lice present
If your child feels well enough, he/she may attend school if:
Lice & Nit free and Administration has checked and permits student’s attendance.
If your child has been diagnosed with a contagious condition you must inform the preschool as soon as possible. Additional guidelines may apply as recommended by the Department of Health.
· If your child had a fever today, they must remain home tomorrow.
· If your child threw up today, they must remain home tomorrow.
