WCPS provides part time preschool services for children ages 6 months to 5 years. We serve children daily from 9:30-2:30. Children attend 2, 3, 4 or 5 days per week, depending on their age.

Classes are formed on the basis of the age of each child on the Tennessee kindergarten enrollment date, which by law enacted April, 2012 is September 30th for K class of 2013, August 31st for K class of 2014 and August 15th for all subsequent years. The goal is to place each child in a group with which he/she can expect to attend kindergarten. The Admissions Committee operates with some flexibility for individual differences in maturity.

WCPS follows a standard 9 month school calendar. We begin the school year in late August and end the school year the second or third week in May. The school year is approximately 38 weeks long. We have a 2 week Christmas/New Year break and a week of Spring Break. We observe the major holidays that occur during the nine month school year. One Parent Conference Day is scheduled for each semester. The children do not attend on those days. We devote an additional 2 or 3 days off from school for staff training. At WCPS, we believe each child is a unique gift from God and is encouraged to progress at his or her own rate. The loving caring Christian atmosphere provides a warm backdrop, allowing children to feel confident as they experiment, make mistakes and discover their abilities. The stimulating, child centered setting offers a safe and developmentally appropriate environment where children can learn self-discipline and the have the opportunity to make good choices. Experienced and devoted teachers create challenging opportunities for children, inspiring them to do great things.

WCPS utilizes The Creative Curriculum®, a research and evidence curriculum including free choice/self-initiated, directed and thematic learning activities. The curriculum is predictable, flexible and responsive to the individual needs and interests of the children. The Creative Curriculum Assessment is administered and is the framework for developing appropriate activities for each child.

Our curriculum is supplemented with additional enrichment opportunities.

· Weekly chapel program for 3, 4 and 5-year-old children

· Weekly safety instruction for 3, 4 and 5-year-old children
